On Timing
Being on time means different things to different people.
To my husband, Mike, being on time means being 5 minutes early. In contrast, on time for my family means arriving before you’ve missed anything important. Yes… we were the family scurrying into church during the opening hymn. Our parish priest at the small church near our cottage in Canada was known to begin mass by saying, “The Murrays are here… we can start.”
I am reasonably punctual. I won’t make any absolute claim … but I do make an effort to be on time, or even a little early, when the timing matters. That does leave wiggle room for allowing myself to be late when it doesn’t matter … which, I admit, is subjective and convenient.
The Maddie and Nate series of books, of which Out of Time is the first, are all about timing. Maddie and Nate are two souls that are destined to meet but, in each book, they meet at a different time in their lives. Whether or not they meet at that moment when they can realize the full potential of what they can be to each other, isn’t luck… it’s good timing.
